Have you ever wondered why we wear the wedding ring or engagement ring that we wear?Where did this custom come from wearing an engagement and wedding ring?
There are many legends full of meaning that teach us and inspire us to use alliances with a more definite purpose: to be our partner forever.
It all began with the Egyptians:
According to historical accounts, the Egyptians wore a ring that symbolized the marriage bond, around 2800 BC.As the circle has no beginning and no end, for them the ring represented eternity as should be the union of a couple.After 2000 years, the Greeks discovered magnetism: they believed that the third finger of the left hand had a vein leading to the heart, so they began to use a magnetized iron ring on it, so that the lovers’ hearts remained attracted to each other Another forever.
Already the engagement ring was introduced in the year 860 by decree by Pope Nicholas I (856-867), which would represent a public and MANDATORY statement of the intention of the bride and groom.According to Father Eduardo Coelho, from the archdiocese of São Paulo, the alliance passes from the right hand to the left because on the left side it is closer to the heart and represents the definitive commitment.
LEGEND OF THE VENA AMORIS
This ancient legend affirmed that there was a vein of love that connected the ring finger of the left hand directly to the heart.In 1686 the first registration of the term Vena Amoris by the lawyer Henry Swinburne occurred in a treaty on contracts of marriage.Until then, people had the habit of using alliances on other fingers, such as the thumb and middle finger.From the introduction of the Amoris Vena, the ring finger monopolized the representation of marriage and marriage between couples as a symbol of love.

The explanation that enchants me most is the one introduced by the Chinese: they believe that all fingers represent a member of the family.
