Prison inmates of the prison system in Rio de Janeiro may opt for the purchase of the device used for electronic tracking to comply with penalties in the open and semi-open regimes. This is what establishes the bill 1,989 / 16, of the state deputy Dionísio Lins(PP), which Alerj(Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro) approved on Wednesday (9), in a single discussion.
Monitoring can be done through the use of bracelet, anklet or subcutaneous chip. The costs of the system used will also be of the prisoner, except for the one that uses the Free Justice. The text changes Law 5.530/09, and also says that, after compliance with the sentence, the equipment may be donated to the State.
The justification of the deputy is the crisis. He says that, at such a delicate time in the state’s economy, measures need to be taken to unburden the cash and not hinder compliance with prisoners’ regimes.
“The grieving were suffering from it. They won the liberation of Justice, but for lack of payment of the state to the supplier of the anklets, they ended up not getting the release. This law will release the state and the grieving will pay for their anklets, “he said. The text will follow the governor, Luiz Fernando Pezão, who will decide by sanction or veto in up to 15 working days.(AG)
